The Shartle House -
120 N. Verity Parkway

Our current museum, the former home of the Shartle family for many years was acquired by the Middletown Historical Society in 2012.  This house was built circa 1900 and has housed many different owners over the years.  More recently it has served as the Women's Center and the Girls Club.

Other owners of the land have included:

  • Hugh E. Hughes

  • McCurry/Shields Family

  • Mary Heaton

  • Stephen and Shobal Vail

The house originally boasted a Broad Street address with the front of the house facing in to the west.  The back yard backed up to the canal at one point.  Even though the front of the building faces Broad Street towards the previous Manchester Hotel, we decided to keep a Verity Parkway address.

We have exhibits set up and you can even rent out our beautiful banquet hall.   Click on the link below to learn more about the venue rental.
